Extended-Length Freight Now Supported on Local Shipments

Shipping longer freight locally just got easier.


You can now book eligible freight measuring up to 144 inches in either length or width through the Mothership Carrier Network. This expanded allowance gives you more flexibility to move longer pallets and other extended-length freight on local shipments.


Previously, the Mothership booking flow limited freight dimensions to 94 inches in length on local shipments. Customers shipping longer pallets or other extended-length freight needed to contact Support to determine whether the shipment could be accommodated


Now, extended-length freight can move directly through Mothership’s local network.


What’s New


Eligible handling units can now measure up to:

  • 144" L × 94" W × 94" H, or
  • 94" L × 144" W × 94" H


The extended allowance applies to either length or width. The maximum supported height remains 94 inches.


What to Know Before Booking

Extended-length freight is available for dock-to-dock shipments where the shipper and receiver can load and unload without liftgate service.


Before booking, confirm that:

  • Both locations have loading docks
  • The shipper and receiver have the equipment needed to load and unload the freight
  • The shipment does not require driver assistance or liftgate service


If liftgate service is required, standard Mothership Carrier Network limits of 2,500 lbs and 86" × 60" × 94" per handling unit apply.


Why It Matters

The expanded allowance gives you more local shipping options for longer freight. You can move eligible extended-length shipments through the Mothership Carrier Network without adjusting the freight to meet the previous 94-inch dimensional limit or selecting another service solely because of its length or width.
